Charging infrastructure build-out
Supply, distribution board, protections and cable route – everything needed to connect the charger safely.
What does it take to connect a charger?
A charger only works safely and at full power if the network behind it is built for it. We always start the build-out with a survey: we check the meter point, the distribution board, the available power and the cable route.
What we build
- Supply and cable route – a cable of the right cross-section from the meter point or distribution board to the charger, on the wall, in conduit or underground.
- Personal protection – residual current device (RCD), circuit breaker and surge protection, so that accidental electric shock cannot happen.
- Distribution board – a new or expanded board if needed; custom switchgear for multiple chargers.
- Meter point upgrade – if you need more power, we help with the application to the electricity provider and with modifying the meter point.
- Load balancing – an energy meter in the main distribution board so the charger never overloads the grid.
- Pedestal and foundation – concrete foundations, cable protection and impact protection for charging pedestals.
FAQ
Does the charger need a higher grid connection capacity?
Not always. With dynamic load balancing, the charger charges within your existing connection, adapting to the house’s consumption. If that isn’t enough, we help you apply for an upgrade after a survey.
How long does the build-out take?
An average home installation is usually done in one day. For business sites, multiple chargers or underground cabling, we provide a schedule after the survey.
