Charger maintenance

Periodic inspection and maintenance so your charger keeps working safely for years and stays under warranty.

Why does a charger need maintenance?

A wall charger is also a device that switches high currents: outdoors it is exposed to the weather, indoors to dust and vibration. Regular inspection catches loosening connections, damaged cables and faulty protections in time, before they lead to downtime or danger. Several manufacturers also require periodic checks as a condition of the warranty.

What does maintenance include?

  • Visual inspection: condition of the housing, seals, charging cable and connector.
  • Checking connections in the charger and the distribution board.
  • Testing the residual current device and surge protection.
  • Insulation and electrical safety measurements.
  • Software and firmware updates, checks of the network connection and load balancing.
  • Test charge and a short report of the work done.

For business and public chargers

At workplace, fleet, hotel or public charge points, downtime costs money. In these cases we recommend an annual maintenance contract with remote monitoring: we often see a fault on a networked charger before the user would notice it.

FAQ

How often should a home charger be maintained?

For a home charger, one inspection a year is enough. Business or public chargers that see heavy use should be checked more often.

Is maintenance needed to keep the warranty?

It depends on the manufacturer: several require periodic checks by a professional. We’re happy to look at your charger’s warranty terms.
